Dave Chappelle Attacked Onstage at Hollywood Bowl

On the evening of May 3rd, 2022, at the Hollywood Bowl during a standup comedy show, Dave Chappelle was rushed and tackled by an armed audience member. Chappelle was mid-conversation when Isaiah Lee, age 23, jumped onto the stage and assaulted the unsuspecting comedian. Quickly after Chappelle fell to the floor, Isaiah Lee was apprehended by Chappelle's entourage and event security which led to a brutal beat down of the attacker. Reports state that Lee suffered multiple injuries following the initial attack on Chappelle, such as bruising to the face, a dislocated shoulder, and a bloody nose. According to records, LAPD is holding Isaiah Lee on $30,000 bail for felony assault with a deadly weapon, as he was found with a blade-concealing replica handgun.

Following the attack, Chappelle was joined by Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock on stage to give the audience a sense of ease. Chris jokingly asked, "Was that Will Smith?", in reference to the recent Academy Awards fiasco in which Will Smith hopped on stage and assaulted Chris Rock due to an "untimely, inappropriate" joke directed at Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett. Dave Chappelle seems to be uninjured and in good spirits following the incident.

After intensive research, I've learned that attacker Isaiah Lee, makes music under the moniker "NONAME_TRAPPER". On Spotify, you can find dozens of songs by Lee, one of which is titled, "Dave Chappelle", released in 2020. As of now, a motive is unknown. I'll keep you updated as more information is released.
